Parking Free at Kaanapali Beach Resorts
By Hawaiian law, resorts lining the beach have to provide free public parking but they don’t have to offer a lot, so they limit the free spots to the bare legal minimum, usually about 10-20.
To avail of these free spots, plan on reaching the resort garages early morning (07:30 – 08:00 am) and on weekdays, and make sure you have backup resorts to go to if the first couple are taken.
While early morning may sound absurd on a vacation, actually if you’re planning to snorkel and enjoy Hawaii’s amazing seascape and marine life, your experience will be optimal in the morning when underwater visibility is the best!

Snorkeling at Black Rock? Try the Sheraton first and if it is full, just head to another close by resort. Most likely you’ll find a free spot.

Of the resorts, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort offers about 70+ free spots, the Marriott Maui Ocean Club 30+, the Sheraton 20+, and most of the others are at 10+. Try the Hyatt first for free Kaanapali Beach parking!

Free Ka’anapali Beach Public Parking
If you expand the Kaanapali Beach map and click on the Kaanapali Beach Parking areas, you’ll notice two Kaanapali Beach public parking lots.
Both have few spots and ideally you need to be an early bird to snag an empty parking spot here.
The first one is wedged between the Sheraton and the Outrigger Kaanapali Beach resorts, with a public access trail from the parking lot to the beachwalk and the beach beyond.
The second one is at the end of the Nohea Kai drive, near the tennis courts, with about 10 free spots.
